Mother's Day and Dad's 70th

Over Mother's Day weekend, the family got together to surprise Dad with an early Happy Birtday and celebrate Mother's Day in Newport Beach.

Kim and Halle came over and we had a girl's night out (thanks Kim for coming to visit!).

Opening Day - April 7, 2008

We went to the Giant's opening day game. It was really fun! Not the game itself; that was painful to watch (poor Giants, they suck). But the food, drink, and company were fantastic!

Girls weekend

Last weekend we had a mother and daughter's weekend in San Luis Obispo/Avila Beach. We stayed at the Sycamore Mineral Springs and spent the weekend hiking, practicing yoga and pilates, wine tasting, and of course, sitting in our mineral springs hot tub!

Castello di Amorosa

On January 25th Brian attended a Leadership conference with the YMCA who graciously hosted an evening at one of the newest wineries in Calistoga, Castello di Amorosa. It's a castle - truly, it is. They brought over brick, stone and iron works from Italy and other parts of Europe. Some of the brick even came from old fireplaces. It was awesome! It took 14 years and $40 million dollars to build this castle - complete with a church, drawbridge, and of course, a torture chamber!

Happy New Year!

We were invited to Nevada City to ring in 2008 with Steve and Tasia at his family's cabin. What an experience! The weather was chilly but perfect for an afternoon hike. We ate a wonderful meal at the Stonehouse and toasted to the New Year at midnight with a tasty bottle of champagne compliments of Tasia.

Christmas 2007

We celebrated Christmas this year in Oxnard and on Christmas day, we drove to Yorba Linda to the Sherg's house. It was fun seeing everyone and catching up. There were some incredible days at the beach - you could even see the Channel Islands. I ran on the beach every morning taking in the views.
