Box o'Greens

My really cool brother invited us to his neck of the woods (SF, The Marina, to be exact) for a delicious, locally grown, organic dinner and a box of CSA (Community Support Agriculture) produce from Oak Hill Farm in Napa to take home. I did mention how cool my brother is?

First of all, the Blue Barn Gourmet is great for yummy salads filled with organic goodness. Kevin and I ordered the tostada salad and Brian ordered the skirt steak sandwich. Since Kevin eats there multiple times per week, they know him and upon arrival, we were greeted with a, "Hey Kevin, here for the usual?" I love places like that... We also met the owner, Teresa, who is a delight to chat with. Here's their website and if you're ever on Chestnut Street, a visit is mandatory!

What about the beautiful box of local produce? We opened our box to discover colorful, fragrant, gorgeous layers of fresh chard, basil, little gems, jalapeno peppers, Serrano peppers, zucchini, tomatoes, lemon cucumbers (wow, loved those!), and a basket of raspberries to enjoy.

Inspired by my new box of veggies, I decided to make a big hearty salad! I even threw in some of Uncle Moe's dried herbs (oregano, sweet marjoram, thyme, and sage) for extra flavor. It was so tasty; I didn't bother making a vinaigrette.

The verdict is - delicious!
